The Guitar Is My Livelihood

Morgan’s Story
Growing up, my brother Dylan played the guitar and bass and was in several bands. I went to all of his shows and was always excited to watch him and his friends perform. I soon realized that I wanted to do the same thing because it looked like so much fun.

I started playing guitar when I was in the eighth grade. After my parents gave me my first guitar for Christmas in 2000, I started taking lessons. Playing the guitar became one of my favorite hobbies. During my senior year of high school, I joined the jazz band as the guitarist and became an even a better player.

By the time I reached college, I knew that no matter how busy I got I would still make time to play the guitar. I was still taking lessons during my freshman year when something unexpected happened: my guitar instructor asked me if I would like to start teaching. That’s when my instructing days began. I have now been teaching for seven years and at one point had forty-five students. Teaching guitar to people has not only been a great experience, but has also made me a better player and increased my drive for learning more about music.

I now have been playing the guitar for twelve years and could not imagine my life without it. Morgan WadeI currently play in a band with my brother and two of our good friends, Danny and Dave. The band is called Mr. Important, and playing with them is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy writing music, and hopefully one day I will be able to record and share with others. I don’t know where my life will take me, but one thing I know for sure is that I will always play the guitar to represent who I am and express myself.
